This Is What The Real Church Is...

Church is an assembly of those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They are all believers who have received salvation, filled with the Holy Spirit.

Universally it is the body of Christ, scattered abroad. Locally, it can meet anywhere, even in homes, because church was never about a building, only believers.

Romans 16:5 says “… greet also the church that meets at their house.” Paul calls the “Church” those meeting in a house, not the house itself.

Jesus intended for His followers to BE the Church, not a passive audience in something called church.

1 Peter 2:4-5 says “As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him – you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood,…”

Jesus is the Cornerstone and believers are His “living stones”, His followers are His hands and feet that He uses to build up His Church.

Further evidence that churches were initially made up of only believers was the first century church in the Book of Acts. It was growing rapidly not because non-believers were showing up but because the converted were joining the assembly of believers. Indeed, being part of that congregation could cost them their lives and was not worth the risk for non-believers.

Churches Should Welcome Non-Believers if They Wander in…
According to 1 Corinthians 14:22-25, even though preaching the deep truths of God is meant for believers, no one should be turned away. However, churches should not divert from teaching those “deep truths”, nor from deep discipleship, just because non-believers are present.

An excerpt from an article I no longer have,

If one’s conscience is bothering him to the point that he feels he is too guilty for God to forgive, he has the assurance of God’s Word that forgiveness is possible. The very fact that he is bothered by his sinfulness shows that the Holy Spirit has not abandoned him.

The real danger arises, however, when one can continually violate God’s law and never feel the slightest remorse over his rebellion. The Bible’s warning should jolt the spiritually flippant out of their complacency:”

Your Life can change forever in an Instant

..... with a phone call in the middle of the night, a letter, a fall, an accident, or a sudden "chance" meeting.

You can be comfortable in your lifestyle, whatever it may be one minute, and the very next minute your whole life can be changed forever, for the better or the worse.

You can be poor and struggling one minute and win a million dollars in a contest the next minute.

Or you could just be going about your everyday routine at home or work one minute and drop dead of a heart attack or a massive stroke the next minute. Now that would really be a change! But, would it be a change for the better or for the worse for you?

None of us knows how long we will live. None of us has the promise of our very next breath or our next heartbeat.

All of us, no matter what our age or health, need to be prepared to enter eternity at any time, there to stand before a Holy and Perfect God.

James 4:14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Hebrews 9:27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

And just how will you be judged then? What will you say to God when He asks you why He should let you into Heaven?  Will you tell Him what a good person you've been, at least most of the time?

But the Bible tells us,

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
1John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Will you remind Him how you went to church at Easter and Christmas, or maybe even more often than that?

The Bible warns us,

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
Ephesians  2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Will you then hear those dreaded words,
Matthew 7:23 Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me....

Or will you honestly be able to say that you have accepted Jesus as your very own personal Lord and Savior and that He has paid your way into Heaven?

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

If you would like to be able to say that, then the first thing you need to do is pray a simple prayer like this one, just be sure you really mean it with all your heart....

Dear God,
    I admit that I'm a sinner and I repent of all my sins.
    Please forgive me.
    I now turn away from those sins and ask you to come into my heart,
    be my Lord and Savior, and take me to Heaven when I die.
    In Jesus' Name, amen.

Now allow God to direct your life from that moment on, then God assures you in Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Find a good new testament believing church so you can learn more about God and what He has planned for you.

Trust and Obey

1
When we walk with the Lord
  In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
  While we do His good will,
  He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
  Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
  But to trust and obey.
2
Not a shadow can rise,
  Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
  Not a doubt or a fear,
  Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3
Not a burden we bear,
  Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
  Not a grief or a loss,
  Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
4
But we never can prove
  The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
  For the favor He shows,
  And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5
Then in fellowship sweet
  We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
  What He says we will do;
  Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Are you ready for the long haul?

Jesus said in Matthew 10:22 "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved."

Real Christian living is not a life of ease and comfort. There are many (especially on T.V.) who would lead you to believe it is.
This life is only one second of eternity. Are you ready for number two?

Dear new believers and to you who are unsure,

If there is anything that I think is most important to remember it is this,

Repent of your past sins and accept Jesus Christ as Your Lord, and go on from there, trusting Him from then on for every day of your life.

You will never become perfect until He takes you home. But continue to lean on Him and never give up. Jesus is trustworthy and true.
